SHOKZ OpenFit2 Review

I have had the OpenFit 2 for a while. It is my main headphone for the gym. The dual drivers and Dolby Audio sound great. The multi-function physical buttons are easy to use. I do not need to take out my phone during workouts.

What really surprised me is its AI recording feature. Shokz did not hide the recording deep in the App. It directly rebuilt the control logic. When wearing the headphones, press the headphone button to start recording. In an offline meeting, wearing headphones to record might look impolite. You put the headphones back into the charging case. Long press the case button to start "closed-case recording". This design understands real situations.

I recorded a 1 minute and 54 second live event with it and a professional voice recorder at the same time.

The OpenFit 2 AI file is only 666KB. The voice recorder file size is 121MB. In terms of loudness, OpenFit 2 AI is 4.6dB higher than the voice recorder. The background noise is 7dB lower. The vocals are more forward and cleaner. The 2-4KHz vocal range has a 3.8dB boost. Consonants and pronunciation are clearer. The 4-8KHz high frequencies are "brighter". This is friendly for large models to recognize words. The voice recorder has more peak headroom. It does not easily clip when sudden loud sounds happen. Overall, OpenFit 2 AI provides more complete vocal clarity and speech details.

In the tech English test, OpenFit 2 AI's English CER is 12.03%. This is clearly better than the 15.55% in a pure English setting. Words like HBM, GPU, data center, power grid, and processor are recognized steadily. The key term hit rate is 89.5%. NVIDIA B200 was split apart. Gaming GPUs was mistaken for gaming GPS. It is good enough for daily use. It can still make mistakes with specific product models and abbreviations.

Overall, OpenFit 2 works well as a sports headphone. The AI recording adds practical value for meetings and recording ideas. It is not perfect. It truly saves me from carrying a separate voice recorder.
