iPhone 18 Pro Might Be the Biggest Upgrade in Five Years

The Dynamic Island is getting smaller. Apple's plan for the iPhone 18 Pro is to move the flood illuminator (the part that helps Face ID work in the dark) under the screen. Other Face ID components stay where they are. So yes, the Dynamic Island shrinks—but it's not going away completely.

The A20 Pro chip will be built on TSMC's first-generation 2nm process. That's a big jump in chip technology.

There's a new LTPO+ display. The name sounds like a small upgrade over LTPO, but if it can lower power consumption when the screen is static—on top of the current 120Hz ProMotion—that's a real boost to battery life.

A new N2 chip replaces the N1, adding support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Wi-Fi 7 is theoretically four times faster than Wi-Fi 6E. Bluetooth 6.0 focuses on lower latency and better precision.
